So I found out about this only a couple of hours ago and it’s really turned my evening upside down. For Valentine’s Day this year my boyfriend took me to the zoo and we were so lucky to be able to see this cutie. The video footage and photos I took of him I will forever hold dear to me.
I know some people are angry because “this wouldn’t have happened if we kept animals in captivity”, but in all honesty isn’t the reason we keep them in captivity to stop poachers from wiping them off the face of the Earth? Zoos are about education, conservation, and above all, showcasing the plight of some of the most wonderful and amazing creatures on Earth. Getting the word out there to help stop poachers so that these animals can be safer in the wild is very important. Stopping the destruction of the environment from logging, building, and ultimately poisoning by our waste is also a major issue. Zoos do more good than people seem to realise.
My new tattoo. Ever since I was little I’ve had a great love for Ancient Egypt and a few years ago I was lucky enough to discover a jackal Netjer who followed me around from time to time. I thought about getting a jackal tattoo years ago - now, finally I have. The hieroglyphics within the cartouche spell the name he gave me to call him by. It was quite strange sitting up on the bed at the tattoo parlour, He was sitting quietly beside it looking up at me. Part of me wanted to invite him to sit on my lap and watch, but He seemed happy where he was. The altar to the left is the altar I laid out for him - it’s not permanent, but one day it will be.
I’m sorry but I just have to point this out: that looks like a male red kangaroo. You do not, I repeat DO NOT want to piss these guys off. They can grow to be bigger than a person and they have these massive toenails on their hind legs which can use to disembowel you if they kick you. They may seem a bit dopey at times but I warn all tourists to be super careful around them. Especially the males. You all want to keep you insides inside right? /endrant
Flower Moon altar. Jasmine incense, moonstones, and my moon hares. The flowers are leftovers from Beltaine, yes they’re still alive! The jackal and the offering bowl next to him shall be explained soon enough…
This was taken in Australia. Three separate things happening at once: On the left, fireworks exploded as part of Australia Day celebrations. In the middle, it’s Comet McNaught. Then on the right, there’s lightning from a thunderstorm far away.
i dont care if this has nothing to do with the blog its just sick
My car won’t let me plug in an mp3 player, so in order to listen to “Welcome To Night Vale” while traveling I have to burn episodes to CDs. A bunch of empty CD cases rattling around isn’t exactly aesthetically pleasing, so I designed these covers. If you have three episodes per disc, these covers are enough for every episode thus far (that’s 33 of them). Feel free to use them yourself!
Elvish hijinks over the weekend. We just had our Spring gathering - situated in the lovely bushland around Kurth Kiln. If you’re an Aussie and interested in joining, look up Yomenie Eldheren on Facebook. :)
My Beltaine altar - the biggest one I’ve had all year! All the flowers are from our garden. Flowers and crystals are described in the individual captions.
